How To Tie Your Beads
Video of how to tie your beads is coming soon.
Traditional waistbeads are meant to be worn semi-permanently. This means they can be worn while performing everyday activities, such as bathing, sleeping, etc.; until they break off or you cut them off.
When you receive your beads, they will have a slip knot at both ends. Gently pull the yellow anchor bead to untie the slip knot. The yellow anchor bead prevents the beads from sliding off the string.
To tie your stands:
Place them around your waist and decide where you want them to lay
-
Once you have your stands where you want them to lay, push the beads that are around your waist closely together to make sure no string is exposed and there are no gaps
-
Cross the string and tie a simple knot
-
Slide the excess beads down towards the anchor bead (the end of the strand) and allow them to hang freely
-
Ensure the knot is tight and the strand fits snug but comfortably
-
Cut the anchor beads and slide the excess beads into a container.
-
Tie the knot 2-3 times to make sure the strand is secure, then cut of the excess string
Please remember to be patient when tying your stands. Using a mirror can be very helpful. Be sure not to tie them too tightly, leave enough room for sitting, bending and even bloating. Be mindful of pulling/tugging of the strands when getting dress or undressed. If you remember only one thing... remember this... 'beads up, bottoms down. Sis, you got this! Welcome to the tribe and enjoy your journey!
